Artist information
Bronwyn Royce
is a South African housewife, mother and artist, who has
exhibited in a number of art galleries in and around her home
town of Fish Hoek in the Western Cape, South Africa.
She began her career as a legal secretary and later became a
bookkeeper, but was convinced that this was not where her talent
lay, nor what she wanted to do for the rest of her life. While
making wooden home
decorations, she was encouraged by a friend to join a local art
class to see if it would be of any interest to her. In
September 2000, as she approached her 40th birthday, she decided
it was time to change the path of her life and she joined the
Leonie Turck Art School in Fish Hoek, South Africa, where she
was particularly attracted to water colour. From then on, she
spent her spare time in galleries and libraries soaking herself
in art.
Other people
became interested in her work, and soon she was holding several
solo exhibitions. With her work accepted by several galleries,
she began to feel that her career as an artist was established,
and she left her job to pursue her passion. Many of her
paintings have left South Africa and adorn the walls of homes
abroad.
Bronwyn's works are detailed and capture mainly the beauty of
nature, and
also texture on different surfaces.
